Interview conducted by Alan Cherry as part of the LDS Afro-American Oral History Project by the Charles Redd Center for Western Studies at Brigham Young University on 4 March 1988. Porter talks about his early life in West Helena, Arkansas and his move to Chicago, Illinois. He discusses his conversion to the Mormon Church and his experiences as a member of that church.
